Renowned for our dedication to craftsmanship and design, we are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with award-winning designer, Thebe Magugu. Celebrated for his ability to weave compelling stories through fashion, Magugu brings his distinctive vision to this partnership, marking a significant milestone for both brands and reinforcing our respective commitment to craftsmanship, design, and authenticity in an African context.
Thebe Magugu's first physical showroom, Magugu House, opened on 11 May 2024, in the suburb of Dunkeld, Johannesburg. More than just a retail location, Magugu House is set on a vast plot and features a house built in 1931 that will host exhibitions and events.
The ground floor of Magugu House, painted in signature shades of pistachio and terracotta, includes a showroom, fitting room, reception room, and two small art galleries. These spaces will showcase the latest installment of Magugu’s Heritage capsule collection and Weylandts’ distinct range of furniture and homeware.
With a focus on local production and global designs rooted in Africa, Weylandts is proud to have furnished Magugu House, aligning with our commitment to craftsmanship and using furniture to create emotive spaces. This collaboration represents a fusion of iconic design and craftsmanship, emphasizing the shared values of both Weylandts and Magugu in promoting authentic African design.
Magugu House will serve as a canvas to showcase this unique partnership, with plans to extend the collaboration across various projects throughout the year. Together, Weylandts and Thebe Magugu aim to elevate the art of craft, highlighting the universality of iconic design through the thoughtful integration of space, textile, thought and ethos.
