Inhabit the Iconic
Where living becomes art.
Where living becomes art.
The iconic is a meeting point. A place where raw forms collide with refined designs to curate authentic spaces for living. It is a call to take interiors to the next level, to elevate the spaces we live in, to embrace the stories and histories of each artisanally crafted piece: To inhabit the iconic
Over centuries and millennia, through years of erosion and volcanic eruptions, fallen forests become buried underground in layers of volcanic ash and stone. The result: A distinctive material that is informed by its surroundings, expressing the passing of time through hallmark wood grains, natural cracks, and stone-like qualities.
From century-old petrified wood to hand carved onyx, our pieces celebrate the natural formations, organic patterns, and uniquely characteristic markings of raw materials. Designed by Weylandts, with nature, our collections tell the rich stories of landscapes older than we can fathom, condensing them into a single piece, a moment frozen in history, an era preserved in the amber of time.
Harvested from Indonesian forests, each piece of Munggur wood is hand selected by Chris and Anna Weylandt themselves to curate a collection that is considered and intentional. We celebrate the inimitable markings and durable qualities of this raw material through a refined minimalist design philosophy that heroes the essence of Munggur.

At Weylandts, the relationship between art, artist, and curator is inseparable. Each component plays a crucial part in the process of creating bold spaces. From the raw materials we work with, to the artisans across the globe who blend modern technology with traditional techniques – each piece represents an interconnected journey.
Artworks that tell nearly forgotten stories, these carved panels are beacons of cultural knowledge shared through the weathered wood. Their inherent value lies in the craftsmanship and inspiration behind them. With their beginnings in the architecture of grand temples and palaces, wood carvings as an art form has existed in India for thousands of years. By reimagining these pieces for the modern home, we continue the legacy of these functional works of art by allowing each piece to tell the story of its inception.
“I’ve been travelling to India for 20 years to discover its skills, its materiality, and the visual overload that surrounds its trading spaces, and to marry these with the design," says Chris Weylandt. "The excitement you get when you are immersed in that space; when you start working and that creativity starts, you see ideas forming."
"It’s about understanding the local culture. For Diwali, people clean their homes – and as part of that they oil their front doors. Over 150 years, this develops a rich patina, which we keep original to retain its authenticity and the journey of that door.”
