Bamboo is part of the grass family. Unlike rattan – which is solid – bamboo has a hollow centre. It's extremely fast growing, absorbs carbon dioxide and releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than hardwood trees. These characteristics have given it an excellent reputation as an environmentally-friendly and renewable resource. Bamboo is light, pliable and durable. It can be used in construction due to its incredible strength – which even rivals steel.

Inherent variations in the bamboo, as well as resultant variations from the handweaving process, are to be expected and celebrated in our bamboo products. Each item is unique and no two are alike.
